PICT0003CD
Debut EP of Badenoch a song-based band featuring the two main writers
/ composers from 'The Picts' Douglas McQueen Hunter - vocals / acoustic
guitar and Jeremy Stirling - Keyboards. They are joined by James Gorgon
- drums / percussion'.
Roddy Gourly - lead guitar / backing vocals and Fionn MacArthur - fiddle.
Also appearing - 'The Picts' Dougie Caird - accordian and Nico -
bass.
Immediately the atmosphere is created by the opening track 'Caledon' a
song charting the demise of the great forest of northern Scotland, deep
drums, swelling guitars, eerie fiddles and moody vocals - then with an
explosion of sound the rock kicks in. The song is ended with Jeremy Stirlings
fast and furious Tree shanty jig.
The Atmosphere is then transformed into optimism, warmth and tenderness
with Colleen and World of Green, two romantic, heartfelt love songs. The
one instrumental track is Galway and The Reel Misfit,
grooving and funky with irresitable rhythms. Finally there is Freetime
a bouncy, summery song of love and escapism to finish what is an excellent
debut EP, which will leave listeners craving for more. The quality of
Caledon is rich throughout, the music colourful the songs moving, the
sound powerful and the arrangements flawless.
All tracks on Caledon are original.
